Great news! Mobile check deposits are now available! Winden’s new mobile check deposit feature will allow you to deposit your physical checks by taking and uploading photos of your check right through your mobile app available on Apple Store and Google Play.

The first step is to sign the back of the check you wish to deposit and then write “For mobile deposit at BRB” below your signature. BRB is the acronym for our partner bank Blue Ridge Bank N.A.

Next, you will take and upload pictures of your checks when logged in to your Winden account. Once pictures are uploaded, Winden will process the checks and reach out to you if further action is needed.

To deposit a check using our mobile check deposit feature you will need to log in to your Winden mobile app. From there you will go to the 3 lines located at the top right of your screen.

On the following screen, you will select the Check Deposits option from the action list

Next, you will click the plus sign icon next to the Check Deposits label to submit a new check deposit.

Then you will enter the amount of the check and click continue.

From there the option to upload a picture will appear and you will click the purple Upload option below the check amount.

Next, you will take a photo of the Front of your check and follow the prompts to then enter the back of the check.

Once the check is successfully submitted and is being reviewed we will inform you of the changes to your check’s status, including when it was approved.

7 pm EST is the cut-off time for mobile check deposits. Any checks deposited on a business day before this cut-off will be reviewed the same day. If a check is deposited after this time, it will be reviewed the next business day.

Keep in mind that it can take up to 5-7 business days for your check to be fully processed and for the funds to be available.

You can check the status of your mobile check deposit at any time by going back to the check deposit section of your mobile app. There you will see a list of checks you have deposited to your account and the status of each check. When you click on a specific check you can see more details about the check.

Monthly limits are based on the calendar month and are reset at the beginning of each calendar month.

I have deposited my check, now what do I do?

We will notify you when the status of your mobile check deposit changes. For example, when we review the check or when funds are available in your account, we will notify you via push notification on our mobile app and an email will be sent to the email address associated with your account.

How long should I hold on to my check?

We recommend that you do not discard your physical check until at least a week after your check has been deposited and the funds are available for use in your account.

After this period, you can securely discard the check.

Can I deposit my check through your web app?

No, we only allow check deposits to be done via our mobile app.

If you haven’t already, make sure to download our mobile app for iOS or Android.

My deposit has been stuck in “clearing”. When will I get my money?

After a deposit is approved, it remains in “clearing” status for five business days. We hold the funds in clearing during this time to better protect you and your account.

If your check has been in clearing for more than five business days, please contact our support team. Note that it may take longer if a business day coincides with a bank holiday.

What do the different statuses of a check mean?

There are six possible statuses that your mobile check deposit can be in after you submit it.

1 - Under Review

This means that we received your check and are reviewing it. We will let you know once we review it.

2 - Rejected

Your check may be rejected for a number of reasons. These rejections are often due to a simple mistake such as an incorrect check amount entered, a check not endorsed properly, or a blurry check image. In this case, we will let you know the reason and you can resubmit your check.

3 - Waiting Approval:

This means that we’ve reviewed your check and have sent it to the issuing bank for approval.

4 - Returned:

This means that the issuing bank chose not to honor your check. Unfortunately, we cannot provide you with a reason as to why the check was not honored.

In this case, we recommend you contact the issuing bank or the party that gave you the check.

5 - Clearing:

This means that your deposit was approved by the issuing bank, but needs to wait for clearance. Clearance takes five business days and helps to protect you and your counterparty from any potential issues.

6 - Available:

Great news! If you see this status, it means that your check has been successfully deposited and funds are available in your account.

Make sure to keep your physical check for at least another week before securely destroying it.

I am seeing “Other - check declined” for my rejected deposit. What does this mean?

For checks that have been rejected due to simple mistakes such as a blurry image, missing signature, or wrong amount, we will let you know.

However, if you see “Other - check declined”, this means that we could not accept your check and cannot provide you with a reason. You should not resubmit this check.

If you think we have made a mistake, you can contact us.

My check has been returned. Can you tell me why?

Unfortunately, we cannot provide you with a reason as to why the issuing bank returned your check. In this case, we recommend you contact the issuing bank and inquire about the return reason.
